| Founded BaekDu-DaeGan Films Co., Ltd in 1994 and established the first arthouse in Korea in 1995. Since then, LEE established two more arthouses including Arthosue MOMO which he still runs, has imported and distributed over 150 art films such as NOSTALGHIA and FANNY AND ALEXANDER, opened film schools at his arthouses, and held many specific film festivals and projects such as Ingmar Bergman project this year. He also held national screenplay contests, produced movies, and taught at Chung-Ang Univ. as a professor. As a screenwriter, he won Grand Prix at Hartley-Merrill Int. Screenwriting Competition in USA. As a film director, he won many awards at film festivals at home and abroad, including Gold Prize at Tokyo Int. Film Festival and Best Film at Grand Bell Film Awards, for SPRING IN MY HOMETOWN, his debut film which was invited to Directors¡¯ Fortnight at Cannes Int. Film Festival. He is now working on making FAIRYTALE OF A PICTURE TREE, which won Busan Award at PPP of Busan Int. Film Festival, into a novel, a trilogy of feature-length film, and a series of TV drama. |
